About Sophia Bounou

Born in Louisiana and raised in the south of France, upstate New York, and finally locating to Chicago suburbs, I take much of my inspiration from the environment and cultures around me. Being of French and Moroccan descent gives me a unique perspective of the world I was raised in.

My main mediums are acrylic paints and ink pens, however I also experiment and try new things such as chalk, oil pastels, watercolor, and pencil. I also work in multiple creative practices including sewing, sculpture, photography, graphic design, and video editing.

Aside from art, I am also an assistant & mentor for the STEM programs, Digital Youth Divas, and Club HoMaGo. We focus on encouraging youth to learn science, technology, engineering, art, and math practices. We partner and work closely with Northwestern University, and the National Science Foundation to track interest from 4th grade to 8th grade, offering programs for all ages.

I am also signed with Ignite Models (@ignitemodels), and Fusion Models (@fusionmodelsnyc).

Even though I create primarily for myself, my work has been well received by buyers and critics alike; a fact I don’t take lightly. If you would like to talk about working together, or if you have a specific project you would like to propose, please do not hesitate to contact me.
